Symptoms
Round bleached-out to tan-coloured spots ranging from the size of a quarter to a silver dollar. Spots appear sunken. Yellow to light-green lesions may appear. In the morning, spots appear greyish-white from mycelium.
Turfgrass Affected
All cool season turfgrass
Occurrence
Late spring to early winter when temperatures range from 16C to 31C (60F - 90F)
Control Options
- Remove guttation water (dew)
- Minimize thatch buildup
- Avoid late afternoon watering
- Increase air circulation across turf
- Maintain adequate levels of nitrogen and potassium
